Aww… our tiny tot is showing little pearly teeth? Littloo parents, it’s time to introduce your baby to finger brushes because we must start good oral hygiene habits early! These will become your aid to maintain good oral hygiene from infancy. As parents, we want the best for our little ones, and that includes protecting those adorable pearly whites. Finger toothbrush is just one example, there are various other products that are curated especially for babies. Which one is the best suited for your baby, this can be a confusing thing to find out.

Littloo will be your guiding light and we, both, altogether will explore baby toothbrushe, from finger brushes to soft-bristled toothbrushes and U-shaped baby toothbrushes. Littloo will ensure a lifetime of healthy smiles for our precious babies.

When Do They Need Toothbrushes?

Now where to begin with? Parents, let us tackle baby oral hygiene regime for our babies. But what exactly does that even mean for a tiny tot with maybe just a couple of teeth? Well, it’s all about getting them used to the feeling of having their gums and teeth cleaned. Even before the emergence of teeth, gum cleaning is essential. Why? Because cleaning the gums after milk intake or feedings will remove bacteria and sugars. These sugars and bacteria is what leads to gum infection and cavities. Thus, it is important to maintain a good oral hygiene.

Let’s Make Sure of Good Oral Hygiene For Babies:

Initially, a clean, damp washcloth wrapped around your finger will be an ideal choice. But once those pearly whites pop through, you need more than a damp cloth. How? Let’s move ahead to understand the appropriate brush for their age and set those early habits for a lifetime of healthy smiles!

Types of Baby Toothbrushes:

The majority of parents, especially new parents, remain unaware of the variety of toothbrushes. Every type of toothbrush differs from one another and is age-specific. Littloo parents, the right toothbrush and its type depends on your baby’s age and development. First, let’s find out what are these type and how they differ from each other. Usually, you will find three types in the market, finger brushes, traditional soft-bristled toothbrushes and U-shaped toothbrush.

1. Finger Toothbrushes

Once teeth start coming in, finger toothbrush become a great aid for you to maintain infant oral hygiene. This is also our first gentle baby toothbrush and usually is recommended for ages up to 2-8 months. The finger toothbrush slips over your finger and is made of soft silicone. This kind of toothbrush does two tasks at once. Not only it massages your baby’s gums and newly erupted teeth but also cleans them gently. However, we must remember that Finger toothbrushes don’t remove plaque efficiently but are excellent for massaging your baby’s sore gums because of tooth eruption.

Since Finger toothbrushes are worn on your index finger, they give you complete control over the pressure and movement. Also, they’re easy to clean, and many babies find its soft texture soothing. Thus, they’re ideal for infants and babies who are just starting to get their first teeth or even before any teeth appear, for gum massage.

So, cheer up parents, you can now soothe those sore gums and make your babies giggle again! These soft silicone finger toothbrushes help you to calm down the pain and provide relief to your baby’s sore gums by gentle massaging. Littloo Baby Finger Toothbrush fits snugly over your finger, and gently massages their delicate gums.

2. U-Shaped Automatic Toothbrushes

This is definitely less known to parents, especially to new parents. But now these U-shaped toothbrush are popping up everywhere, right? The question is how useful are these for your infant’s oral hygiene and what is so special about them? These U-shaped silicone toothbrushes are just like mouthpieces that fit over the entire row of teeth. Hence, they are able to clean all surfaces simultaneously at once. U-shaped baby toothbrushes can clean all your baby’s teeth at once with just a gentle wiggle!

Right now, even experts are a little hesitant to recommend them as your main cleaning tool. Why? Because studies are showing that they might not actually clean all the surfaces of every tooth properly. And there’s a particular reason for this. Since every baby’s mouth is shaped a little differently, the dental structure differs too. The standard size of these brushes can not suffice the need and also, customized fit is impossible. Thus, it’s tough to guarantee a perfect fit and a thorough clean for everyone.

3. Soft-bristled Toothbrushes for Babies

Littloo parents, your baby will grow furth er, and their needs will grow as well. As more teeth erupt, they need an upgrade and this upgrade will be to a soft-bristled toothbrush that is specially crafted for infants and toddlers. These kind of baby toothbrush have smaller heads and extra-soft bristles to protect those delicate gums. Also, these toothbrushes come with large handles to provide easy grip.

Your gentle circular motions to clean all surfaces of the teeth with such soft bristles will remove all the plaque. Also, since these toothbrushes have small head sizes, they are appropriate for your baby’s mouth.

The Dilemma- Manual vs. Electric Toothbrushes?

Littloo says whenever we choose toothbrushes, we often get lost. The dilemma between choosing manual and electric toothbrushes never fades. Don’t worry! Littloo is your cue to rescue since your infant’s oral hygiene matters!

While manual toothbrushes remain suitable for all ages, electric toothbrushes are recommended for children aged 3 and above. Also, the former one is more affordable than the latter. Manual toothbrushes help to teach your babies proper brushing techniques, on the other hand, electric toothbrushes provide cleaning in a fun way. Whatever you choose and prefer, it’s important that you look for models with soft bristles.

Littloo’s Care Tip to Remember:

  • Littloo’s first care for you is to choose a toothbrush with a small head size. So it can fit comfortably in your baby’s mouth.

  • This is utterly important. The bristles must be soft because they prevent gum irritation and also they remain gentle on enamel.

  • Baby toothbrush type matters a lot so does their mechanism. Decide between manual and electric based on your baby’s age.

  • Parents, toothbrushes should be replaced every three months or sooner if you find them frayed. Frayed bristles can not remove plaque and prevent bacterial buildup.

Before We Say Goodbye!

Let us protect those tiny pearly whites! Our snuggles will maintain good infant oral hygiene, and this will set the stage for a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums. These different types of baby toothbrushes are available everywhere and parents, choosing the right one for your child’s age and needs, depends on you. Let us ensure that their oral health is well cared for from the very beginning so that their laughter goes on and on with Littloo
